The Indiana Hoosiers are finally receiving the national attention they deserve. ESPN announced on Sunday morning that Bloomington will be the College GameDay location for Week 9 of the college football season. It will be just the second time that the Saturday flagship has traveled to the home of the Hoosiers, seven years since the program broadcast from Bloomington.

Indiana is one of just 10 remaining undefeated teams heading into Week 9. Furthermore, they’ve been absolutely dominant on their way to a 7-0 start, never trailing in a game. The team is coming off a beatdown of the Nebraska Cornhuskers who hadn’t allowed a single rushing touchdown until the Hoosiers put up five scores on the ground in Week 8.

Oft-considered a bottom-dweller in the Big Ten, Indiana has undergone a significant transformation in the first year under head coach Curt Cignetti. The Hoosiers haven’t had a winning season or been bowl eligible since 2020, and went 3-9 with just one conference win a year ago. They’re guaranteed to have a winning season in 2024 even if they lose every game remaining.

The selection of Bloomington as the College GameDay location also provides a special moment for the most beloved member of the Saturday staple. Lee Corso was the head coach of the Hoosiers from 1973 to 1982, and returns to his alma mater after missing several shows this season due to ill health. A special man and a special football program get a special moment on Saturday.

ESPN College GameDay Guest Picker for Week 9

During his college career in Bloomington, he was named a freshman All-American, an All-American as a sophomore, before being named a finalist for the Johnny Bench Award as a junior. He won the World Series with the Chicago Cubs in 2022.
