In the midst of this weekend’s action, ESPN announced that the College GameDay location would be Norman, Oklahoma. The matchup between the Oklahoma Sooners and Tennessee Volunteers will be the first Southeastern Conference clash for Brent Venables’ team following their switch to the SEC from the Big 12 in a move that triggered seismic conference realignment.
Ahead of the latest AP Poll Top 25 being released, Tennessee vs. Oklahoma is slated to be one of just three all-ranked games in college football Week 4, making Norman as the College GameDay location a relatively easy one. USC vs. Michigan and Utah vs. Oklahoma State were the other realistic options for Kirk Herbstreit, Nick Saban, and the rest of the show’s all-star cast.

Both teams will have aspirations of representing the conference in the College Football Playoff, even if challenging for an SEC title might be a little out of reach. Meanwhile, the game showcases two of the most exciting young quarterbacks in the nation — Oklahoma’s Jackson Arnold and Tennessee’s Nico Iamaleava.
The choice of Norman for the Week College GameDay location in Week 4 means Oklahoma now sits alone with the fourth-most all-time appearances, previously tied with Michigan. The Sooners are 27-13 when appearing on the ESPN flagship and have now hosted the show nine times. The Volunteers are 11-13 from their previous 24 appearances as the featured game.
