When Will Shedeur Sanders Get Drafted? Analyzing the Colorado QB’s Potential Landing Spots on Day 2 of the 2025 NFL Draft

The most ‘critically analyzed’ player of the 2025 NFL Draft, Shedeur Sanders, went unselected on Day 1. Turns out, Coach Prime’s son will try his luck on Day 2 after quarterback-needy teams passed on him during the first round.

Even after a prolific 2024 campaign at Colorado under his father, with a 71.8% career completion rate, Sanders was not picked in Round 1 and now will await his selection on Day 2 of the 2025 NFL Draft.

Day 2 Landing Spots for Colorado Football QB Shedeur Sanders

The biggest wildcard of the 2025 NFL Draft awaits Friday night and the start of Round 2, as things stand. But what are the potential landing spots for the quarterback?

According to some mock drafts, Shedeur Sanders was projected to go as high as No. 3 overall. However, when the dust settled, only two QB-needy teams (Tennessee Titans, New York Giants) selected quarterbacks in Round 1.

In the days leading up to Thursday, Sanders was widely regarded as the biggest wildcard of the 2025 NFL Draft. And that wildcard aspect came true as the Titans selected Miami’s Cam Ward and the Giants traded back into Round 1 to draft Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart near the tail-end of the first round.

“We all didn’t expect this, of course,” Sanders said to the crowd gathered at his draft party. “But I feel like with God, anything’s possible. Everything’s possible,” the quarterback added.

So, where could Sanders land now?

    Cleveland Browns

As of now, the Cleveland Browns hold the first and fourth picks of the second round. In Round 1, they selected Michigan DT Mason Graham after trading back from the second overall pick with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The Browns need an answer at quarterback and with two of the first four selections on Day 2, it makes the most sense that they’ll try their luck at the position.

    Las Vegas Raiders

Meanwhile, the Las Vegas Raiders pick right after the Browns and have been widely projected as a Day 2 landing spot for Sanders. Several mocks linked him to Las Vegas at No. 6 in Round 1 prior to the draft, noting the team’s need for a quarterback and how well Sanders could fit their system.

Sanders’ relationship with minority owner Tom Brady could play a massive part in the Raiders’ potential selection.

    Pittsburgh Steelers

The Pittsburgh Steelers were the fever pitch of the first round. At pick No. 21, it was widely seen as the last realistic spot for any of the potential first-round quarterbacks to hear their name called without a team (like the Giants) trading back in.

After selecting Darrick Harmon, the 21st pick came and went without Sanders’ name being called. Now, the Steelers are back up on Day 2 and don’t have a long-term answer at quarterback after losing Russell Wilson and Justin Fields this offseason.

Could Mike Tomlin and Co. pull the trigger to get Sanders in Round 2?

    Los Angeles Rams

Amid the uncertainty, attention shifts to the Los Angeles Rams, who could be a wildcard contender for Sanders. With no obvious successor to Matthew Stafford, the Rams, who traded out of the first round, will make their first selection at No. 46.

LA has other needs and a quarterback who has shown he can still get the job done in the advanced stages of his career, so pencilling Sanders to the franchise is risky.

Outside of the Rams, division rival Seattle Seahawks are another team to monitor. They hold picks No. 50 and 52, in addition to two third-round selections.

These options aren’t quite the first-round pedigree the family thought they’d be hearing when the 2025 NFL Draft rolled around, but the quarterback made it clear there’s no reason to be discouraged in a video posted from his draft party.
