Midway through the first quarter, Miami fans began to wonder why star true sophomore EDGE Rueben Bain Jr. wasn’t on the field. The defensive lineman suffered an injury early in the game and has not played since.

Latest Rueben Bain Jr. Injury Update
According to ESPN’s Katie George on the broadcast, Bain went down during the first series of the game and has remained in the locker room. It’s unclear what the nature of the injury was and if Bain will be able to return to the contest.
The star defensive lineman landed at No. 88 in College Football Network’s Top 100 entering the season after generating 44 tackles, 12.5 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks, and three forced fumbles last season. Bain lined up anywhere from 3- to 7-tech in Mario Cristobal’s defensive system, proving to be a one-man wrecking crew.

With Bain in the locker room, the Hurricanes will rely on transfers Tyler Baron (Tennessee) and Elijah Alston (Marshall) at the EDGE position.
Miami’s defense has played well, even with Bain out of the lineup, holding the Gators to just three points midway through the third quarter and no third-down conversions on four attempts.
