2025 Schedule of Western Michigan Football

The Broncos face a brutal non-conference start. On August 30, they visit Michigan State, a Big Ten team rebuilding after a 5-7 year in 2024. The Spartans’ physicality will challenge Western Michigan’s new defensive coordinator, Scott Power. On September 6, the Broncos host North Texas, an American Athletic Conference squad with a scary offense. The non-conference gauntlet ends September 13 at Illinois.

    • August 30: at Michigan State
    • September 6: vs. North Texas
    • September 13: at Illinois
    • September 20: vs. Toledo
    • September 27: vs. Rhode Island
    • October 4: at Massachusetts
    • October 11: vs. Ball State
    • October 25: at Miami (OH)
    • November 1: vs. Central Michigan
    • November 11: vs. Ohio
    • November 18: at Northern Illinois
    • November 25: at Eastern Michigan

The MAC schedule begins September 20 with Toledo. After hosting Rhode Island (FCS) on September 27, which can be a manageable game for the Broncos, Western Michigan will have to navigate through a rough stretch.

Road games at Massachusetts (October 4) and Miami (OH) (October 25), with a home clash against Ball State (October 11) in between. Massachusetts and Ball State are winnable, but Miami’s defense can be a problem for the Broncos.

November is make-or-break for the team. The Broncos host rival Central Michigan on November 1 for the Victory Cannon Trophy, a game HERO Sports projects as a narrow Western Michigan win. Home against Ohio (November 11) and a road trip to Northern Illinois (November 18) are critical for MAC standings.

The season ends November 25 at Eastern Michigan, a team the Broncos have often dominated. With the fifth-easiest MAC schedule based on 2024 opponent win totals, a 5-3 conference record is within reach for Western Michigan this season.
