UNC GM Michael Lombardi Questioned About Jordon Hudson’s Role in Team and Recruiting

After a very awkward interview aired on CBS between Tony Dokoupil and Bill Belichick, in which his 24-year-old girlfriend Jordon Hudson reportedly interrupted numerous times, fans wonder how much influence she may have on the North Carolina football program. On Thursday, Barstool Sports attempted to get some answers.

UNC GM Michael Lombardi Faces Questions About Jordon Hudson’s Involvement With Program

During “The Kirk Minihane Show,” Minihane spoke with North Carolina’s general manager, Michael Lombardi. Minihane asked about Hudson’s role in the program. Lombardi didn’t give an actual answer. Instead, he only laughed.

Minihane pressed on the questions, asking Lombardi if Hudson was the “lead recruiter.” Lombardi once again laughed and stated he was “in recruiting” and “working on that.” Before hanging up on Minihane.

While Hudson may not be heading up the Tar Heels’ recruiting efforts, she’s undeniably playing a role in the program. According to emails obtained through a Freedom of Information Act request filed by The Athletics’ Matt Baker, Hudson’s email signature identifies her as the chief operating officer of Belichick Productions.

However, Bake found no applicable business registered with that name. This wasn’t the first time people noticed Hudson was involved in the UNC football program. Earlier this year, Belichick requested the UNC athletic department staff copy Hudson in every email which involved him.

TMZ reported, at one point during Belichick’s interview with CBS Sunday Morning, Hudson stormed out of the room and delayed the interview for 30 minutes. North Carolina and Belichick himself both denied this claim, causing Belichick to release a statement about the viral interview.

“I agreed to speak with CBS Sunday Morning to promote my new book, ‘The Art of Winning – Lessons from My Life in Football,’” Belichick said in a statement. “Prior to this interview, I clearly communicated with my publicist at Simon & Schuster that any promotional interviews I participated in would agree to focus solely on the contents of this book.

“Unfortunately, that expectation was not honored during the interview. I was surprised when unrelated topics were introduced and I repeatedly express to the reporter, Tony Dokoupil, and the producers that I preferred to keep the conversation centered on the book.”

“After this occurred several times, Jordon, with whom I share both a personal and professional relationship, stepped in to reiterate that point to help refocus the discussion. She was not deflecting any specific question or topic but simply doing her job to ensure the interview stayed on track.”

Despite Belichick’s statement, not everyone buys that Hudson truly had his best interest in mind. ESPN’s Paul Finebaum and Chris Russo each poked fun at the situation earlier in the week.

While we may not know, and may never know what Hudson’s true role is in North Carolina’s football program, it’s safe to say she is involved to a certain extent. The only question left remaining is how much.
