Travis Hunter was recently seen hard at work during the Jacksonville Jaguars’ preseason training camp. Like all other NFL rookies, Hunter recently reported to start preseason preparation with the Jacksonville Jaguars during the summer training camps. The Heisman winner has big expectations to fulfil, having been the second overall pick of the NFL Draft.
In a video posted on Sunday to his YouTube channel, the Jaguars’ rookie was seen practicing wide receiver drills alongside Trevor Lawrence, while wearing a new set of cleats. The cleats he wore that day were bright pink, and Hunter had no qualms about it, as he said:
“As y’all can tell, my favorite color is pink. So, when I got these… Ugh!” (1:45)
The cleats were a pair of Adidas Adizero Electric Snack Attack Cotton Candy, which retail for $1048.
Hunter is expected to play both as a defensive back and a wide receiver for the Jaguars in 2025. The Florida franchise famously stated that they would allow the former Colorado man the opportunity to play on both sides of the ball, like he did in college. During the 2024 season, Hunter won the Heisman in an unprecedented season that saw him play almost all of the Buffaloes’ snaps that year as a wide receiver and a defensive back.
He was the Buffaloes’ leading receiver, with 1258 receiving yards, and 15 touchdowns in 96 receptions. He also had 25 solo tackles, 11 assists, one tackle for a loss, and four interceptions.

Sam Acho wants to see Jacksonville Jaguars’ Travis Hunter play on both sides of the ball
One of the biggest questions about Travis Hunter’s rookie season is whether or not the Jacksonville Jaguars will allow him to play on both sides of the ball. The Jaguars do seem more open than other franchises were to allow this to happen at the highest level of competition.
One of the voices calling for Hunter to be able to do this is Sam Acho, who recently appeared on ESPN’s SportsCenter and said:
“I want to see where he will start, but also where will he star? Will he start at wide receiver? Will he start at DB? Will he start at both? And then will he be a star at either one or both? I think Travis Hunter has the potential to be a star on both offense and defense.”
Hunter is already a favorite for the NFL Rookie of the Year honors. If he does play on both sides of the ball, he could be in a position to win both the offensive and defensive awards, which would be unprecedented.
