Colorado has earned its fair share of media headlines in Deion Sanders’ two years at the helm. And while they mostly have centered around himself and his son, QB Shedeur Sanders, they aren’t the only ones with hot takes in Boulder.
Over the weekend, two-way star Travis Hunter went viral for a comment about the offensive line while playing EA Sports College Football 25.

On a 4th-and-22 attempt while down 36-7 against the younger Sanders, Hunter was sacked and immediately blamed the offensive line. “The o-line is realistic. Yes, very realistic! They can’t block for nothing.”

Hunter was referencing the Buffaloes’ 2023 offensive line, which allowed the most sacks among Power Five schools (56) and the second most in the FBS, behind only Old Dominion (62). In fact, Sanders missed the season finale against Utah with a fractured back, although it’s unclear when the injury was sustained.
In an Oct. 28 loss to UCLA, Colorado’s fourth in five games, Deion Sanders pointed the finger at his starting five, saying, “The big picture, you go get new linemen. That’s the picture, and I’ma paint it perfectly.”
This offseason, he was a man of his word, as Colorado added 6’4″, 330-pound NFL Academy recruit Yahya Attia, five-star and top-ranked OL Jordan Seaton, and nine transfers at the position (Michigan State’s Ethan Boyd, Clemson’s Zack Owens, Villanova’s Wyatt Hummel, Texas’ Payton Kirkland, UTEP’s Justin Mayers, Houston’s Tyler Johnson, Indiana’s Kahlil Benson, FIU’s Phillip Houston, and UConn’s Yakiri Walker).
Additionally, Sanders did not retain OL coach Bill O’Boyle, opting to hire six-year NFL veteran Phil Loadholt, who spent the last six seasons as an offensive analyst at UCF (2018-19), Ole Miss (2020-21), and Oklahoma (2022-23).

If it wasn’t clear already, when asked what Colorado’s top priority is this season, Sanders told ESPN, “We got to protect that quarterback. That’s No. 1.”
However, it’s important to note that the sack Hunter took while playing College Football 25 was completely on the user-controlled QB. He had a clean pocket but opted to roll out to the left, causing the pocket to degrade, much as it would in real life.
Fans will be able to get their hands on the game when it officially launches on July 19.
