The winter transfer portal opened Wednesday, releasing chaos throughout the college football landscape yet again. Several cornerbacks hit the portal on day one, including Penn State’s Jon Mitchell, Purdue’s Markevious Brown and Luke Williams, and USC’s Maliki Crawford. On day two, we saw even more chaos.
Here’s everyone who hit the transfer portal on Thursday.

College Football Transfer Portal Day Two: Key Cornerback Departures
Jordan Sanford — Texas Tech
Texas native Sanford appeared in 11 games as a true freshman and all 13 his sophomore year with the Red Raiders as a special teamer and reserve in the secondary. Playing both safety and corner, he started the season as the top backup at free safety but was listed as the backup to Maurion Horn by the end of the year. Sanford recorded 16 tackles on 223 defensive and 166 special teams snaps
Noah King — Kansas State
The freshman, listed at safety by the team, didn’t see the field in his freshman season. He was ranked the seventh-best player overall in his class in Ohio out of high school.
Tyler Strain — Illinois
Strain enters the portal with one year of eligibility remaining. Last year, he played in seven games, recording five tackles and had 57 tackles, including one TFL, three interceptions, and nine passes defensed in his career.
Jayden McDonald — Virginia Tech
McDonald played in two games in 2024 before missing the rest of the season with an injury. In 2023, he started five games—playing in all 12—and registered 30 tackles and one pass breakup.
Jorden McDonald — Virginia Tech
McDonald played in 10 games in 2024, registering two tackles. In his 2023 redshirt sophomore year, he played all 13 games, recording six tackles and 1.5 sacks.
Devynn Cromwell — Texas Tech
Cromwell arrived at Texas Tech after four seasons at the University of Guelph in Guelph, Ontario, Canada. He played in nine games, starting two at safety and missed four due to injury in 2024. The Canadian registered 20 tackles on 179 defensive and 87 special teams snaps last year. On eight targets, he only gave up three completions for 14 yards.
A.J. Davis — SMU
Davis appeared in 10 games in 2024, starting one. He registered four tackles and a pass breakup.
