North Carolina’s new GM, Michael Lombardi, and new head coach Bill Belichick have been extremely active in the spring portal, bringing in some high-level talent. The Tar Heels have already brought in two four-star transfers, Gio Lopez as their new quarterback, and just signed former Michigan running back Benjamin Hall. It’s been a dominant performance so far for UNC, and I don’t think they’re done either.
The Bruins haven’t made many moves, but they shifted the trajectory of their entire 2025 season by bringing in quarterback Nico Iamaleava. Now, I know there’s been some bad publicity on Nico as of late, but there’s no doubt that he’s one of the ten best quarterbacks in the country, and this is a massive signing for UCLA.
The Sooners struck gold in the portal by bringing in former Cal running back Jaydn Ott, ranked fifth-best available player in the entire spring portal. Still, they were also able to bring back former five-star David Stone, who originally entered the portal but withdrew and is now back with Oklahoma. Those two moves alone are enough for them to make this list.
The Bulldogs were very quiet in the first couple of days of the spring window, but have turned it on recently, signing Elo Modozie from Army, who was one of the best transfers available, as well as two other potential impact players in former Illinois running back Josh McCray and former Miami defensive lineman Josh Horton. All three of their signings were top 800-ranked players in the entire portal.
That’s right—players can be portal winners, too, and no player was a bigger winner than Tulane’s Kadin Semonza. Semonza transferred to Tulane from Ball State to become the Green Waves’ new starting quarterback.
