While great college football rivalries take place all over the country every year, some are no longer played annually because of conference realignments and contracts. It is time to look at the best college football rivalries that don’t take place every year but should.

The Best College Football Rivalries that Need to Return to Annual Status
Here are the five best college football rivalries that are not played every year but should be
The Backyard Brawl – Pittsburgh vs West Virginia
This is an easy one. These two old rivals used to compete in the Big East Conference, and there was plenty of hate involved. With Rich Rodriguez coming back to Morgantown, this rivalry needs to become an annual meeting.
The Border War – Kansas vs Missouri
In another matchup of old conference foes, there is no love lost between these two schools. The states of Kansas and Missouri share many things, including a deep love for college football.
Especially with Missouri being a top-25 team in recent years and Kansas returning to competitive play, this would be a great date every year.
Bedlam – Oklahoma vs Oklahoma State
Bedlam is right up there with the likes of Ohio State-Michigan, Auburn-Alabama, and Pittsburgh-West Virginia. The chaos and boiling blood that ensue when these teams face off is unmatched.
While Oklahoma seems to have gotten the better of Mike Gundy and Oklahoma State in recent years, this one would be even more fun if it were played every year.
Colorado vs Nebraska
In yet another matchup of old Big 12 foes on this list, Colorado and Nebraska are two programs trying to rise from the dead.
While head coach Deion Sanders brought the Buffaloes to nine wins last year, head coach Matt Rhule brought the Cornhuskers back to a bowl game. These teams should do battle every year, no doubt about it.

Florida vs Miami
In a state where college football is king, Florida and Miami are two of the premier destinations for kids looking to make their mark on the sport. Not only do both of these schools attract talent, but they also attract hate from the other.
This would be a great rivalry to bring back if you are trying to prove you are the best team in the state of Florida.
