Joel Klatt NFL Mock Draft Sees Cam Ward, Travis Hunter, and Shedeur Sanders All Taken in the Top 5

With the NFL Draft just over a month away, analysts and fans are finalizing their own mock drafts, and that is no different for Klatt. The FOX Sports show host shares his latest mock following free agency, and there are definitely a couple of talking points.

We have seen a variety of names go No. 1, but Klatt settles for Cam Ward going to the Titans. The consensus best quarterback in the class has been projected to go in the top five all offseason, but with the class lacking QB depth and the 2026 class set to be much stronger, questions were raised over where he would land.

Will Levis has had a real rough time as the Titans QB, and there are clear problems over there in Tennessee, Ward would be faced with them but is coming in as a far better prospect than Levis was. The Heisman Trophy finalist threw for 4313 yards, 39 touchdowns and just seven interceptions, amassing an 88.7 QB rating, the second highest in the nation.

Perhaps the overall best player in the draft is Travis Hunter, who finds himself going second to the Cleveland Browns. They are a mess of an organization, but they are tied down to DeShaun Watson’s monster contract, making it difficult for them to draft a quarterback with that much money benched.

Hunter has made it clear he wants to play both sides of the ball as a cornerback and a wide receiver. The Browns are not good and will be playing for a top-five pick again in 2026, so they will likely let him have the chance. Kevin Stefanski is a good coach, and I will find a way to have him on offense and defense.

One of the highest variations when it comes to positioning is with QB Shedeur Sanders. Klatt has him going pick No. 3 to the New York Giants. Rumors have been rife over what they are doing behind center and Sanders would fix that. The rest of the roster needs sorting and as Sanders says himself, the team would need to change the culture around him.

He’s not a massive faller in this mock, but EDGE Abdul Carter finds his way to the New England Patriots. Mike Vrabel would absolutely love this pick. Carter’s stock dropped slightly due to an injury update but concerns were very quickly squashed. The Pats are sorted with their future QB so landing a defensive cornerstone would be big.

Rounding out the top five is Michigan cornerback Will Johnson to the Jacksonville Jaguars. Another team with a new head coach and Trevor Lawrence had a mixed 2024 season, but they have weapons at receiver and running back. The Jags gave up the most passing yards in the NFL last season, taking the best CB fixes that.

Fellow Michigan Wolverine Mason Graham finds his way to the Las Vegas Raiders at six. Interesting pick with them having so many holes that they would go get a defensive tackle that early on. Graham is unbelievably talented, but the Raiders need a QB, RB, WR, CB, and many more.

The New York Jets land offensive tackle Will Campbell to help protect their QB, which we don’t know who it is yet. If they want one of Sanders or Ward they would have to trade up or hope they fall into their lap. Campbell is the best OT in the class and is NFL-ready, whether the Jets would look to him remains unseen.

Other standout picks include Ashton Jeanty going to the Dallas Cowboys at pick 12, one that seems common across many analysts.

EDGE Shemar Stewart drops to 15 and would be a great addition to the Atlanta Falcons. James Pearce Jr. was an early top-5 projected player but ended up with the Detroit Lions at 28. Alongside Aidan Hutchinson would be a phenomenal defensive line.

There are a number of interesting picks by Klatt in this mock but there is no telling what the wild world of the NFL will throw up for us. The Raiders perhaps make the strangest pick here and questions still surround Sanders and whether he is destined for a top-5 pick.
