KC Concepcion’s Brother Just Made a Surprising Move That’s Blowing Up College Football

College football recruiting just delivered one of its most unexpected twists of the 2025 cycle. Arrion Concepcion, a talented three-star wide receiver from Chambers High School (NC) and younger brother of Texas A&M star KC Concepcion, has made a decision that has left the college football world stunned.

Arrion has chosen to flip his commitment from Kansas State to James Madison. This unprecedented path switch to non-power five has analysts and fans alike completely shocked.

Arrion Concepcion Commits to James Madison Over Power Four Programs

On Sunday, May 18, insider Matt Zenitz broke the news on social media, “Ex-Kansas State wide receiver signee Arrion Concepcion has committed to James Madison,” his agent from TheFamilie tells CBS Sports and 247Sports.

Zenitz added, “Class of 2025 player who’s the younger brother of Texas A&M star receiver KC Concepcion. Has four years of eligibility left.”

The 5’9″, 170-pound receiver had initially committed to NC State in June 2024, following in his brother’s footsteps. By November 2024, he had flipped to Kansas State, signing with the Wildcats, cementing his future in the Power Four.

Recent visits to Texas A&M sparked speculation that he might join his brother, making his James Madison commitment all the more shocking.

Arrion’s senior season at Chambers High School showcased his talents with 23 receptions for 255 yards, averaging 11.1 yards per catch. This followed an impressive junior campaign where he racked up 51 catches for 640 yards and nine touchdowns, establishing himself as a legitimate Division I prospect despite his smaller frame.

Meanwhile, after setting NC State freshman records with 71 receptions for 839 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2023, his older brother, KC, has been blazing a trail of success. KC transferred to Texas A&M, quickly becoming a centerpiece of the Aggies’ offense and landing on 2026 NFL Draft watchlists.

Industry insiders consider Arrion’s decision particularly unusual given today’s NIL-driven landscape, where Power Four programs typically hold significant advantages.

While establishing itself as a respectable group of five programs, James Madison represents a non-traditional path for a recruit with Power Five options and family connections to an SEC program.

The Concepcion brothers now find themselves on divergent paths in college football. KC is chasing NFL dreams in the spotlight of the SEC, while Arrion carves out his own unique journey at James Madison.

This decision demonstrates the increasingly unpredictable nature of modern college football recruiting, where family ties and traditional power structures no longer dictate player decisions as they once did.
