Arch Manning is heading into one of the most important games of his first year at Texas as a starter, as the Longhorns gear up to face the Georgia Bulldogs in their week 12 SEC matchup.
Manning and company are sitting at an overall record of 7-2 in the season, while Georgia goes into week 12 with an 8-1 record.
Despite the Longhorns’ struggles at the start of the season, they seem to be on a good momentum, but will they be able to carry it against the Bulldogs and the Aggies?
Talking about the pressure on Arch Manning ahead of the Georgia game and how it will impact the Longhorns’ playoff chances, Stephen A. Smith said:
“They’re on a four-game winning streak in the SEC. They have Georgia, they have Texas A&M down the line. Two top five-ranked teams in the nation are on their schedule over the last three or four games of the season. They got to win those games. Arch Manning has the ball in those games. You know, Alabama missed the playoffs last year.”
“You’re looking at them because they were a three-loss team and you can’t it’s going to be hard because you defer to a conference champion instead of putting Alabama in there last year, if I remember correctly. Well, if that’s the case, that’s going to be the excuse to leave Texas out if they become a three-loss team because they already got two losses, which is even more pressure,” he added.

Paul Finebaum Makes His Pick Between Georgia and Texas Ahead Of Week 12 Matchup
During his appearance on the “DawgNation,” Finebaum opened up on how far off he was in the preseason when he had Manning winning the Heisman Trophy and the Gunner Stockton selling insurance, which he admitted was terribly wrong since the Georgia QB has been putting up a blast on the field this year.
Finebaum said Stockton has been an absolute star in the 2025 college football season and discussed how, between the two programs, Texas is the one limping, whereas the Bulldogs are in a much more comfortable spot ahead of the game.
“Gunnar Stockton has been an absolute star. So here we are. Texas is the one limping. They’re not so much limping, but they’re in such a desperate situation where Georgia has a little bit of air and room to breathe,” he added.
Finebaum added that someone would have to be “bivo,” if they were choosing Texas to win the game against Georgia in week 12.
