South Carolina 2025 Recruiting Update: Atlanta 4-Star CB Peyton Dyer Decommits With 28 Offers In Hand

Four-star cornerback Peyton Dyer has decommitted from the South Carolina Gamecocks, with reports indicating he currently has offers from 28 other programs.

The four-star recruit from Atlanta, GA, committed to the program in November but announced yesterday that he was decommitting.

The Decision to Decommit Comes at Perfect Time for Georgia.

According to ESPN, Dyer is a four-star prospect, a top-50 Defensive Back prospect, and the 25th-best player in his position in this year’s class. The Duluth corner made 18 tackles and had two interceptions as a junior.

While there is no official report on why Dyer decommitted from the Gamecocks, a popular theory making the rounds is that there is some interest from the Georgia Bulldogs, who just lost out on 4-star Cornerback Jontavius Wyman, who flipped his commitment to the Miami Hurricanes.

The Corner currently has summer visits scheduled with the Bulldogs, South Carolina, and USC and 24 offers from other D1 schools.

While Peyton Dyer’s decommitment may come as a massive blow to South Carolina’s current recruitment window, the team has still had some big coups up to this point, with the 8th best recruitment window in the SEC, according to on3.

This South Carolina recruitment class includes one of the top Safety prospects in the entire country, with four-star safety J’Zavien Currence.

“The culture in South Carolina is family-oriented, and the coaches are great people. Coach Beamer is a great head coach who has the right people in the right place. They are all real and true to who they are. That coaching staff shows the love and makes me feel important.” Currency revealed, speaking to on3 in May.

The Gamecocks also secured their top recruitment target, the 129th-best prospect in the class and the second-best in South Carolina, with IOL Zyon Guiles, who committed to the program over Georgia and Clemson.

South Carolina also plans visits with a host of talent, including Curtis, Matthews, and Gray, four-star offensive linemen G’Nivre Carr and Desmond Green, four-star safety Tamarion Watkins, and corner commit Peyton Dyer.
