Is Shilo Sanders Proving He Belongs in the NFL? Buccaneers Minicamp Reports Point To Football IQ and Flashy Footwork

Two of Coach Prime’s sons entered the 2025 NFL draft but Shedeur Sanders was the topic of most discussions due to his surprising draft slide, having gone from projected lottery pick to a fifth round pick. Shedeur’s slide overshadowed the fact that Shilo, the older sibling went undrafted.

Sanders was picked up immediately after the draft by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent. He has signed his  contract and joined the Buccaneers’ mini camp, with reports coming out that he’s been impressing the coaching crew.

Is Shilo Sanders Already Turning Heads as a Rookie Star in Tampa Bay?

Coming off a season that was less then ideal with Colorado, he recorded 67 tackles, one forced fumble, and a sack despite missing three games. And with his younger brother more heralded as a potential superstar, Sanders arrived in Tampa with something to prove. It appears he’s started on a bright note.

It’s being said that head coach, Todd Bowles has been impressed with Sanders’ fundamentals. His intelligence, vocal leadership and his footwork were also praised.

Sanders seems to be settling well in Florida and when he was asked on Media day why he chose to sign with the Buccaneers, he was honest with his response.

“They gave me a chance before anyone so I’m forever grateful to the Buccaneers, and I’m just gonna do everything in my power to help this team win,” he said. “That’s all I want.

“Just look at the whole coaching staff. It’s a real supportive coaching staff. Everybody wants to see everybody do good. Even the guys on the team. I’ve just been talking to everybody, and everybody is cool. We all want to see each other win, and it’s just a great environment to thrive in.”
