Shilo Sanders, a rookie safety who joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent, is turning heads at rookie minicamp—not just for his play, but for his humor. Sanders joked about promising to keep the safety room stocked and spirits high on Sundays.

Shilo Sanders Says He’ll Run a Snack Spreadsheet To Thank Bucs Veterans for Their Support
Sanders is already making waves at rookie minicamp for how he’s trying to win over his teammates. The undrafted rookie out of Colorado showed off his personality at his introductory press conference, where he greeted every reporter with a handshake and declared his role in the safety room.
“I’m going to be the snack guy. So we’re just gonna get a whole wholesale. I’m gonna have everything everybody needs.”

Sanders, son of Pro Football Hall of Famer and Colorado head coach Deion Sanders, is embracing his rookie duties with humor and humility. Asked about what snacks he plans to bring for himself, Sanders responded,
“I’m just a rookie. I have to bring my own snacks. I gotta make sure that the vets are good, you know what I’m saying? ‘Cause they really been helping me and teaching me a lot of stuff. I’m really grateful for that. So that’s the least I can do.”
He also mentioned that he plans to coordinate with his fellow safeties through a group chat, organizing snack distribution as a way to show appreciation.
“I’m already preparing on Sunday to get in the safety group chat for all the snacks,” Sanders said. “I’m gonna be the snack guy.”
His younger brother, quarterback Shedeur Sanders, was selected in the fifth round by the Cleveland Browns. Despite being on separate teams now, the brothers remain in constant contact.
“He’s been missing me. He’s been calling me in the morning. He’ll call me at like 6 a.m. because we’re on the same schedule right now, actually,” Shilo said. “I think he’s doing an interview right now, too, so he wants some brotherly love. He misses me and stuff, his big brother’s not there no more in practice. We talk a lot.”

Shilo shared that Shedeur even interrupted a recent meeting with Tampa Bay assistant secondary coach Rashad Johnson.
“He called me in the morning,” Shilo said. “Stayed later to meet with Coach Rashad, and he had called me during the meeting. I’m like, ‘You messing up my study session, bro.’”
Despite entering the league as an undrafted free agent, Sanders is embracing his opportunity with Tampa Bay.
“They gave me a chance before anyone, so I’m forever grateful to the Buccaneers, and I’m just gonna do everything in my power to help this team win,” he said.
