Shane Beamer To Throw First Pitch at South Carolina Baseball Opener
South Carolina’s baseball team will commence the 2025 season on Friday with a three-game weekend series against the Sacred Heart Pioneers. To add to the thrill of Opening Day, Coach Beamer will throw the ceremonial first pitch on Sunday’s matchup.
The move is part of a long tradition of honoring notable figures in Gamecock athletics and interacting with the wider sports community.
This is not Beamer’s first pitch on the mound at Founders Park. In April 2021, he threw the first pitch before a game against No. 1 Arkansas. This was his first public appearance as South Carolina’s head football coach.
His engagement in such activities reflects his commitment to uniting the college’s various athletic programs and promoting school spirit.
Since his hiring, Beamer has been a fixture of the Gamecock community, regularly visiting basketball, baseball, and other sporting events to show his support.
Gamerock Athletics tweeted the first pitchers for the season-opening series.
