Garrett Nussmeier, Harold Perkins Headline LSU Tigers Set to Appear at SEC Media Days

The LSU Tigers are heading to Dallas for SEC Media Days, but which players will be talking with the media this week?

The entire Southeastern Conference is descending on Dallas this week for the official start of talking season, otherwise known as SEC Media Days. It’s an expanded group this year, and the LSU Tigers, under the direction of Brian Kelly, are aiming to notch up a third successive double-digit season — the first time the program will have achieved such a feat since 2010-2013.

Talking season requires student-athletes to answer questions from the media masses ahead of the college football season. Who will be representing LSU as the eyes and ears of national attention turn towards the Tigers this week?

Which LSU Players Are Attending SEC Media Days?

    • Garrett Nussmeier, QB
    • Mason Taylor, TE
    • Harold Perkins Jr., LB

It’s an almost unwritten rule of college football media days that a program will take their starting QB to address the reporters — unless that team doesn’t have an established starter. No such problem for LSU, who will take Garrett Nussmeier to Dallas as he prepares to take over the reins from Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels as the most important piece in the Tigers offense.

Joining Nussmeier at SEC Media Days will be tight end Mason Taylor. The third-year LSU standout might not bring eye-popping production to the table as a pass catcher, but he’s set to be a pivotal part of the offense in all phases. With 762 career yards and four scores, he’s hardly a slouch as a scoring threat for an offense that lost two talented and productive wide receivers.

Finally, LSU will have a defensive representative at SEC Media Days, Harold Perkins Jr. However, the third-year linebacker isn’t your garden variety kind of defender; he’s arguably one of the best in the nation. After experimenting with him positionally last fall, head coach Kelly is set to let Perkins do what he does best this season: terrorize offenses in all facets of defensive football.
