It is always neat to see respect between the commissioner of a league and a legendary head coach.
An example occurred recently with SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey and arguably the greatest college football coach of all time, Nick Saban.

Greg Sankey Highlights SEC’s Emmy Milestone as Nick Saban Dominates Sports Honors
At the Sports Emmys earlier this week, “SEC on ABC” took home the Emmy for the “Outstanding Live Series.”
Here is what Sankey had to say about the big award win:
“For the first time in 45 years…college football won an Emmy in the “outstanding Live Series” category…#Itjustmeansmore and great work by everyone involved!!”
For the FIRST TIME in 45 years…College Football won an Emmy in the “Outstanding Live Series” category…and it just so happens to be the “@SEC on ABC!” #ItJustMeansMore and GREAT WORK by everyone involved!! https://t.co/8nCHwDpmP1

Part of the reason that ESPN took home the award was because of Saban’s job as an analyst for ESPN.
While Sankey didn’t directly shout out Saban, he gave everyone involved credit.
The longtime SEC coach at both LSU and Alabama helped take ESPN’s coverage of college football to new heights with his work on “College Gameday” this year.
Nick Saban Adds to Trophy Case
Saban specifically took home the award for “Outstanding Personality/Emerging On-Air Talent” after a great rookie season on the set of “College Gameday.”
Much like he did when he was coaching, the 73-year-old dominated his job. Now that he is an Emmy winner, he can add that to his already-impressive trophy case.
The seven-time national champion and 11-time SEC champion knows about winning at the highest level in any field. Now, he can take home some hardware after his television work.

This is not the first award Saban has accepted in connection with ESPN, seeing as he took home the 2024 ESPY Icon Award after announcing his retirement from college football.
Judging by how hard he prepares and works, it would not be surprising to see the West Virginia native add more trophies to his case in the near future. If you were to ask him which trophy is his favorite, perhaps he might just have his eye on the next one.
