Being the head coach of a well-known football team like Ohio State brings both fame and a mix of memorable moments. For someone like Ryan Day, it’s a dream come true, and there’s no denying how much he loves his job.
However, fame brings constant attention, and he must always be prepared in a city like Columbus. Most fans approach him with respect and admiration. One request, however, has become a bit of a joke in his family. According to the Buckeyes’ head coach, it doesn’t sit well with his wife, Christina.

Ryan Day Opens Up About Fan Questions and Picture Requests
Ryan Day, head football coach of the Ohio State Buckeyes, recently shared a funny behind-the-scenes moment about life in the spotlight. During an ESPN podcast appearance, he revealed the most common request he gets from fans—and why it’s not always a hit at home.
“It just comes with the job,” Day said with a smile.
Whether he’s in Columbus or traveling, fans often stop him to talk about the Buckeyes. They thank him, cheer him on, and, of course, ask for photos. But one part of these encounters has become a running joke in his family—asking his wife to take the picture.
“One thing for sure, though,” Ryan explained, “is that asking my wife to take a picture of someone is usually not going to go very well. So I try to get out in front of that pretty good.” He laughed, knowing how often it happens.
Day also noted how much his public recognition has grown over time.
“Every year it’s become a little bit more amplified,” he said. With millions of passionate Ohio State fans, Day understands the excitement and remains gracious when fans approach him.
