Nebraska Football seems to have finally turned a corner and is building something special under the leadership of head coach Matt Rhule.
The Cornhuskers made their first bowl game since 2016 last season and continue trending upwards in college football. That includes their recruiting strategies, including a new one-of-a-kind event that Rhule put on for prospects nationwide.
Nebraska’s 7-on-7 Battle of the Boneyard Event Was a ‘Massive Success’
Rhule hosted a “camp,” so to speak, where some of the premier club teams in the country were invited to participate in a 7-on-7 tournament. The teams were stacked top to bottom, and some of the best talent in the country came to Lincoln for the event.
247Sports’ Andrew Ivins attended the event and wrote an article about it. In it, he said, “If the goal is to get a degree and develop into an NFL Draft pick, recruits are going to be hard pressed to find a better setup than the current one at Nebraska.”

Nebraska just recently renovated its entire football facility, and it was clear that it impressed both recruits and coaches. Ivins said, “Every team tour and ate breakfast inside the state-of-the-art building on Friday, and the sidelines were buzzing with multiple recruits and coaches calling it the best facility they have ever seen.”
While Rhule’s record at Nebraska hasn’t been elite, the Cornhuskers have so much faith in his ability to turn the program around: He’s innovative.
Ideas like this can show recruits what Nebraska football is all about and prove to them firsthand that it is one of the best-run programs in the country.
Rhule finally got over the hump last season with a bowl-game appearance and I think it’s fair to say that in just a couple of more seasons Nebraska will be as competitive as anyone in the Big Ten.

In the three full recruiting cycles Rhule has been with the Cornhuskers, Nebraska has pulled in a top-25 class each time. Talent is coming to Lincoln, and ideas like the Battle of the Boneyard are a major reason why.
They have the resources, coaching staff, and funding to make it happen. So, while this might seem like a simple camp, I see it more as a warning to the entire college football world. The Cornhuskers are coming, and they’re arriving sooner than you think.
