Returning like he never left, Rasheen Ali is back for Marshall in 2023, a feat all college fantasy football managers understand the significance of. A full season removed from a record-breaking 2021 campaign, Ali is back to prove he belongs at the top of the CFF Rankings and as a household name.

It was 2021 that Ali truly broke out on the national stage. Leading the nation in touchdowns, Ali ran for over 1,400 yards and scored a whopping 23 touchdowns on the ground. He was a vital contributor to a Thundering Herd team that made waves seemingly every week.

Back to full health, it’s understandable to doubt that he’ll reach that record-breaking pace he set in 2021, but once you throw on the tape, you realize Ali has an elite bag of tricks to make defenders miss on the field.
Ali’s 2021 and 2022 seasons
On the surface, rookie managers will see a middling running back who had 273 yards a year ago. You have to go back to that 2021 season, prior to his injury sustained in 2022, to see who exactly Ali is.
And who he is, is something special.
Ali ran the rock 250 times, hauled in 46 receptions, and simply made the Marshall offense go. He has elite vision, both in the backfield and in the open field, and can make defenders miss in a phone booth.
While his statistics and overall skill set indicate a must-draft-early type of player, his situation around him makes him even more desirable. The Thundering Herd have some questions at multiple positions on offense, except running back.
They’re already a run-first team and while they adjust to their new scheme, system, and personnel in 2023, the one thing they can count on is Ali. He should very well see an uptick in usage from his 2021 season and that spells victory for your fantasy roster.
