Quinn Ewers Thanks Texas for His Career There

When Ewers declared for the NFL Draft, he posted a video on social media that, at its core, was a tribute to his time at Texas. He did a voice-over of the 1:20-minute social media post, saying that he is “truly grateful” for his time with the Longhorns.

Ewers, a Texas native, had always dreamed of playing at the University of Texas and looked back on his time playing football in Austin, saying, “These past three years have been some of the best that I could’ve imagined.”

And they were some great years.

The redshirt junior QB has had one of the best careers in Texas history, ranking third in both passing yards all-time with 9,128 and in passing touchdowns with 68.

During Ewers’ tenure as the starter, Texas went 33-10, reaching the College Football Playoff twice. Ewers led the Longhorns to back-to-back 10-win seasons for the first time since 2008-2009.

To say the young QB had a successful career at UT would be a severe understatement. But Ewers started his career at Ohio State, transferring to Texas after his freshman year in Columbus. Since then, he’s called Austin home. But now, he moves on to the next level.

The decision to leave Texas seemed to weigh heavily on Ewers’ shoulders, seeing as he waited almost five days after the Longhorns’ season ended to announce his declaration.

Ewers will go down as an all-time Texas great, and fans everywhere will await to see where he goes in April.
