Early in the second quarter of the Texas Longhorns’ Week 3 win over the UTSA Roadrunners, star quarterback Quinn Ewers entered the medical tent, returning to the sideline in street clothes for the second half and allowing Arch Manning to take the spotlight in his first meaningful action for the SEC frontrunner.

What Happened to Quinn Ewers?
Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian addressed the media in the aftermath of the win over UTSA, a victory that propelled the Longhorns to the top of the AP Poll, and provided an update on Ewers. The star QB suffered an abdominal strain and is considered “week to week.”
Additionally, ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported that while Ewers’ injury “isn’t as serious” as first though, the Texas quarterback is considered “likely to miss” the Week 4 clash with undefeared Louisiana-Monroe in Austin.
On a first-and-10 play with 12:19 remaining in the second quarter, Ewers handed the ball off to RB Quintrevion Wisner for a 1-yard gain. However, the third-year starter signaled to the sideline and went to the ground in pain.
On the previous play, Ewers uncorked a 49-yard pass to TE Gunnar Helm, but he wasn’t hit in the pocket. After trainers attended to him on the field, he was able to walk off and into the medical tent on his own power — albeit with a noticeable limp — clearly frustrated.

Ewers exited the contest having completed 14 of 16 passes for 185 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception while rushing once for 7 yards.
Manning added fuel to his hype train as soon as he stepped in, throwing a 19-yard TD pass on his very first play.

Then, on the very next drive, Manning ran the rock 67 yards to the house, sending the crowd into a frenzy and causing social media to erupt. It seems like he’ll have the opportunity to create more sensational storylines if Ewers does indeed miss the Week 4 clash against Louisiana-Monroe.
