Will Beau Pribula’s Transfer to Missouri Be a Perfect Fit?

Missouri head coach Eli Drinkwitz has built a reputation for developing quarterbacks who can make plays both in the pocket and on the move. With Pribula’s skill set, he could be exactly what the Tigers need to elevate their offense.

During his time at Penn State, Pribula flashed his potential when called upon, but the opportunity to start consistently was never truly there. Now, at Missouri, that chance could finally be within reach.

At 6’2″ and 205 pounds, Pribula possesses the size, athleticism, and toughness to excel in the SEC. He’s a true dual-threat quarterback, capable of making plays with his legs and his arm.

One of the biggest reasons why Pribula was such a respected figure at Penn State was his leadership. Former Penn State tight end and CBS Sports analyst Adam Breneman highlighted how much Pribula’s presence meant to the team, stating:

“Unbelievable leader. Like the players at Penn State love Beau Pribula. There are very few people at Penn State that James Franklin and those players would let stay on the team during bowl practices or during playoff practices, knowing they were transferring. Bo was one of the that they would have let stay around knowing he was going to transfer.”

Missouri will be getting a quarterback who not only leads by example but also can inspire those around him.

Breneman further broke down why Pribula has the potential to be a game-changer, stating:

“He’s tough, he’s gritty, he’s extremely smart. I think Bo checks every box off the field. He is an unbelievable athlete running the football. He’s got some swagger and he’s got a great elusiveness to him. He is just as good throwing the football. Everyone talks about how he’s kind of a dual-threat quarterback, and he’s good in his own rig game, and I think he is. But I’ve seen him in person at some of those spring practices and ball camp.”

That versatility is exactly what Missouri needs. With Pribula, Missouri gets a quarterback who can keep defenses guessing, making them defend both the pass and the run at all times.

Breneman also noted Pribula’s growth as a passer and how much work he put into developing his arm talent:

“He can zip the ball now. He has some serious juice on his arms. Penn State has done a really good job developing him into more of a bigger pocket guy that can stand in the pocket and deliver the ball down the field. The market for Bo was pretty hot now. A lot of teams went after him to be their starting quarterback and Penn State did a good job developing him.”

Could Penn State Regret Letting Him Go?

With the expansion of the College Football Playoff, teams need a quarterback. Franklin admitted how challenging that situation was, saying:

“First thing is, longest season in Penn State history. 16 games, won 13 games. You’re dealing with the Transfer Portal, or the Transfer Portal is about to open and guys have got to make decisions. You’re dealing with that at the end of the season while you’re still trying to compete, You’re basically trying to put contracts together at the same time that you’re trying to keep everybody focused on the task at hand.”

It’s a valid point. The modern college football landscape forces coaches to juggle recruiting, retention, and game preparation all at once. Penn State may have had no choice but to let Pribula walk, but if he thrives at Missouri, questions will be asked about whether they should have fought harder to keep him.

As Missouri gears up for the 2024-25 season, all eyes will be on Pribula and how he adapts to his new team. If he can quickly establish chemistry with his receivers and grasp Drinkwitz’s offensive system, he has a chance to make an immediate impact.

So, will Missouri be the perfect fit for Beau Pribula? Only time will tell, but all signs point to a promising future.
