Brendan Sorsby’s gambling addiction story became one of the biggest ones of this year’s college football season after reports of him betting on Indiana games while he was on the roster surfaced on the internet.
The NCAA banned Sorsby from playing in the 2026 college football season a few weeks ago after the Texas Tech quarterback had sued them for an injunction on his eligibility.
On Monday, Sorsby and the Red Raiders received the news they had been waiting for a long time after a district court judge in Lubbock County, Texas, granted the injunction requested by the star quarterback.
College football analyst Paul Finebaum shared his blunt thoughts during his Tuesday appearance on “Get Up.”
“Well college sports went to defcon one yesterday greedy and that’s rare because the sport is has gone so low in so many different circumstances but everyone but texas tech officials were in unanimous agreement that this is one of the worst rulings because it it forget the whether college players get paid and all the things that go along with it this is about the integrity of what happens on a Saturday afternoon. And Brendan Shoresby bet on games while he was at Indiana. Remember, he went to Cincinnati. He is a transfer. He has not played a down for Texas Tech. And they maintain they haven’t done anything wrong. They sent him to rehab. It’s a great example for America’s youth. And you can stop laughing now over your cornflakes. But the point is, what happens now? I think everyone knows what happened yesterday. This is a Texas state judge.”
Emmanuel Acho Calls Brendan Sorsby’s Ruling “Disgusting”
Emmanuel Acho reacted to the news of Brendan Sorsby getting his eligibility back in a recent “Speakeasy” conversation. He shared that being able to gamble on your own team undermines the integrity of the game.
“Brendan Sorsby being able to play is probably the most disgusting thing the NCAA has seen in the last decade or so,”
Acho highlighted that when fans watch a game, they watch it with at least the thought that the players are on the field because of hard work and determination, pointing out that giving Sorsby a second chance ruins, jeopardizes, and undermines the integrity of the last bits of one thing that unites the country, college sports.
