Oregon vs. Washington is, without argument, the biggest game of college football Week 7. Arguably, it’s the biggest game of the 2023 college football season. The two AP Poll Top 10 teams meet in a rivalry game that is likely to decide the destination of the Pac-12 Championship Game, and rule one team out from being a College Football Playoff contender.
It’s a huge game. However, it’s not the first time that two AP Poll Top 10 teams have clashed with serious ramifications. In fact, it’s not even close to being the first time that a team from the Pac-12 has been involved in such a clash. Below, we take a look at the previous AP Top 10 matchups that have featured teams from the “Conference of Champions.”
Oregon vs. Washington: Previous AP Top 10 Meetings Featuring Pac-12 Teams
Since 2000, there have been 21 AP Poll Top 10 matchups that have featured at least one Pac-12 team. Of those, there are 10 games where both Pac-12 teams have also been ranked in the AP Poll Top 10.
Oregon vs. Washington hasn’t featured before, but both teams have appeared as a Pac-12 representative in an all-AP Poll Top 10 showdown previously. Between the two teams, they account for 13 of the 21 clashes since 2000.

Oregon has been the dominant force in such matchups, representing the Pac-12 in almost half of the 21 games since 2010. They were involved in the first game in 2000, losing 23-13 in an upset to rival Oregon State when the fifth-ranked team in the nation. Last season, they upset the apple cart beating ninth-ranked UCLA as the number 10 team in the country.
Ahead of Oregon vs. Washington, the Huskies have played in just three games where both teams were ranked in the AP Poll Top 10 since 2000. They’re 1-2 in such games, including a 21-16 loss to Auburn in 2018 which is the only time they’ve come into the game as the higher-ranked team — as they do this weekend.
