The Oregon Ducks’ spring football program is well underway, and the team shared plenty of behind-the-scenes action with a recent countdown video on social media. What all did the post share about the team heading into 2025?

Spring Football Begins For The Oregon Ducks
Dan Lanning has been one of the best college football coaches in recent years, making the Oregon Ducks one of the most feared teams in the nation. In 2024, the team went 13-1, making it all the way to the Rose Bowl but falling to the eventual national champion Ohio State Buckeyes.
After signing a new six-year deal, the head coach is now the fourth-highest paid in the nation, earning around $11 million annually.
The Ducks shared a brilliant video on their social media pages showing behind-the-scenes action during the countdown to spring football, which is now well underway.

Lanning’s voice is heard throughout the video, as he uses a rope as a metaphor for what he needs from his team and their togetherness. We see clips of all sides of the ball and a variety of players who will be looking to take the Ducks deep into the playoffs once more.
One of the big questions for the Ducks is who will be the successor to Dillon Gabriel at quarterback. Bo Nix entered the NFL Draft in 2024, and Gabriel was a stop-gap at quarterback, but he is now entering the draft. This leaves Lanning with a decision to make, and we may see an answer early in spring football.
Former five-star prospect Dante Moore has transferred from UCLA, where he started five games as a true freshman in 2023. Brock Thomas and Austin Vovosad are also vying for the QB1 spot, but Moore, spending a year behind Gabriel and with a year under his belt, may get the nod.

Top wide receivers Tez Johnson and Traeshon Holden have also moved on, leaving the offense almost brand new. Spring football is certainly the time to build up relationships, but the Ducks may be slow out of the blocks when football kicks off later this year.
There is a very good chance that the Ducks can go perfect in the regular season, with them avoiding a number of the better Big Ten teams. They do have a tough October with the Indiana Hoosiers at home before a long road trip to the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, then back to Eugene to face off with the Wisconsin Badgers.
That is the most likely stretch where they drop a game, or at worst, drop two games, with Penn State also on the schedule. The team won’t quite be as good as 2024, and there will be teething problems at first to sort out. It could be tough to get back to the Big Ten Championship, but expect them to still be in the playoffs.
