Recently, there has been a lot of speculation around Travis Kelce’s NFL career, with rumors swirling around the Chiefs’ tight end and his potential retirement from the NFL.
Whilst speaking about Kelce’s retirement situation, Stephen A. Smith recently opened up about what he believes will influence the Kansas City Chiefs tight end’s decision to hang up his boots. The 58-year-old analyst didn’t mince words when discussing what could push Kelce towards retiring from the League.
The conversation around Kelce’s future heated up following Kansas City’s disappointing loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2025 Super Bowl, as that game sparked immediate retirement rumors.
The media personality then laid out what he thought could be the reason for Kelce’s retirement, attributing it to his engagement with pop icon Taylor Swift.
“I think that you could see the handwriting that’s on the wall,” Smith stated in an interview with People.
“Obviously he has a beautiful lady in his life, where there’s a lot of good things for him to go home to. And so, because of that, I think the combination of all of those things”, he further elaborted.

Smith also stated how the three-time Super Bowl champion is extremely talented and will be good at a lot of other things post-retirement, especially television.
Podcasters Reveal Potential Reason Behind Kelce’s Rumored Retirement
Rumors around Travis Kelce’s retirement in a recent development could potentially be attributed to his prenuptial agreement with Taylor Swift.
On a recent episode of the “Pop Apologists” podcast, co-hosts Lauren Atkinson and Chan Cuterie, while discussing a blind piece pertaining to the couple, explained how their cold-hearted prenup could be the factor influencing Kelce’s retirement.

The blind item, as read by Atkinson, suggests that Travis Kelce wants to apparently play in the NFL for one more season, whilst also venturing into broadcasting post-retirement, a plan that Swift is rumored not to be on board with.
The couple, meanwhile, after announcing their engagement earlier this year, are set to tie the knot in a reported Rhode Island wedding in June 2026.
