The first place Detroit Lions (NFC North) and first place Philadelphia Eagles (NFC East) will square off this Sunday night in primetime. In a pivotal NFC showdown, Sunday night’s winner will stay atop of their division while the loser will potentially slip in NFC seedings.
Heading into the game, the Detroit Lions could be without star tight end Sam LaPorta.
What Happened to Sam LaPorta?
Sam LaPorta has been sidelined the last two days of practice. According to multiple reports, LaPorta missed Wednesday and Thursday’s practices with a back injury. This causes a concern as the back injury wasn’t reported last week leading up to the team’s game against the Washington Commanders.
There haven’t been many reports about it but Sam LaPorta missed his 2nd practice today with a back injury.
No specifics provided. Awaiting details but back to back DNPs could threaten his status for Week 11.

Is Sam LaPorta Playing in Week 11?
As of right now, there is now clear word on whether or not Sam LaPorta will play this Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles. As of right now, it doesn’t look too good as he’s missed back to back practice. His status tomorrow should give more of an idea of whether or not he may miss this Sunday’s game.
Sam LaPorta Fantasy Outlook
On the season, Sam LaPorta has 40 receptions for 489 yards and three receiving touchdowns. He ranks second on the team in receptions and receiving yards and third in receiving touchdowns.
LaPorta has had five games this season with at least five catches and five games with at least 50 receiving yards. He’s one of Jared Goff’s best targets and always has the ability to have a big fantasy game. He is a tight end one in mostly every league.
Fantasy Replacements For Sam LaPorta If he Misses This Week
If Sam LaPorta is a surprise in active this weekend, there are a few solid pickups on the waiver wire. New England Patriots tight end Hunter Henry (30-377-4), Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Jonnu Smith (26-163-2), and Green Bay Packers new starting tight end Luke Musgrave (12-111-0) are some solid waiver wire pickup replacements for LaPorta.
If LaPorta is inactive this Sunday, his health early next week will be something to monitor.
