Chicago wide receiver Rome Odunze has appeared in every game for the Bears this season. He has performed well, making 31 receptions for 473 yards and five TDs in seven games. However, on Wednesday, he appeared on the practice injury report as a DNP with a heel injury. Now, his status is uncertain heading into Sunday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals.
What Happened to Rome Odunze?
Chicago Bears wide receiver Rome Odunze was held out of practice on Wednesday with a heel injury. There was no indication that Odunze suffered an injury during the team’s loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday. The coaching staff has not released an official statement on Odunze’s status ahead of Sunday’s game against the Bengals.
Is Rome Odunze Playing Week 9?
As things stand, Rome Odunze is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game. He did not participate in practice on Wednesday. If he is unable to practice on Thursday or Friday, it is unlikely that he will get into the lineup for the Bears.
However, it is important to note that the Bears are dealing with several injuries to their wide receiver group. DJ Moore, Luther Burden, and Olamide Zaccheaus are also dealing with injuries. As a result, it is possible the the Bears are simply being cautious with Odunze.
#Bears top 4 receivers did not practice today
Rome Odunze – heel
DJ Moore – hip/groin
Luther Burden – concussion
Olamide Zaccheaus – kneeGiven the team had a large tryout Tuesday and didn’t have any WRs, I’d hold back on a social media panic attack …

Rome Odunze Fantasy Outlook
When available, Rome Odunze is one of the top fantasy wide receivers in the NFL. According to Fantasy Pros, he is the No. 8-ranked wide receiver in fantasy football this season. So, if he is healthy, he is a must-start in nearly all formats.
If Odunze is unable to play on Sunday, his overall fantasy outlook for the season still looks good. Since there has not been a statement from the coaching staff, it is unlikely Odunze’s heel injury is severe. So, even if he misses a game, he should still get plenty of playing time this year. As a result, he should be kept on your bench or IR until he is able to return.
