NFL Survivor Pool Week 9: Best Picks, Biggest Risks, and Trap Games to Watch

With NFL Week 9 on the horizon, it’s time to dive into the weekly survivor picks. Looking back, Week 8 didn’t really spring up any surprises apart from a Jets upset of the Bengals. Week 9 looks to be the opposite, as only two games have double-digit spreads as of Wednesday. If your survivor pool is still alive, here are some locks and the teams to avoid in Week 9.

    Best Picks

    Los Angeles Rams

The Rams are huge favorites against the New Orleans Saints, who have lost their last three games. They are one of the double-digit favorites and are off a bye week. The Rams‘ defense has also been operating at a high level, while the New Orleans offense has been poor. Expect the Rams to get it done easily.

    New England Patriots

QB1 for the Patriots, Drake Maye, is playing like a top quarterback. He is averaging over 301 total yards in his last three games, and the Patriots have also won five straight. This week, they take on the injured Atlanta Falcons. Michael Penix could be out for this game after missing the contest last week. The Patriots should easily win, especially with their ability to stop the run paired with a Falcons offense that is run-heavy.

    Biggest Risks

    Dallas Cowboys

On paper, the Cowboys should win against the Cardinals, but something could go wrong in this game. Kyler Murray is returning from injury, and the Cowboys’ defense will let just about anyone score on them. This one could end up being close, making it a no-go for a survivor pool.

    Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs have been the fan favorite in their matchup against the Buffalo Bills. However, this one could go either way if Josh Allen and the Bills step up. Mahomes and the offense are clicking at the moment, but this is an away game against a conference rival that they play every single year. If Allen can play at a higher level than he has, it will make this a game to avoid for survivor.

    Trap Games to Watch

    Denver Broncos Vs Houston Texans

The Broncos have been able to put pressure on the quarterback, and the Texans simply can’t protect C.J. Stroud. This looks like a recipe for disaster on paper. While the Texans seem to have found their groove lately, this one should be a defensive battle that could go either way.

    Chicago Bears vs Cincinnati Bengals

Both these teams are banged up heading into a game that could be a high-scorer. If Joe Flacco plays, he should be able to take advantage of a depleted Bears side. On the other hand, there is a similar situation as the Bengals’ defense allowed 39 points last week against the Jets.

    Final Thoughts

The Rams and Patriots are the go-to picks for Week 9 survivor pools. While there are some trap games this week, the majority of the games look predictable on paper. Stick to the favorites and survive another week. After all, the NFL season is only reaching its midpoint.
