The Ravens could be watching a potential loss in their secondary this week. Head coach John Harbaugh confirmed Monday that cornerback Marlon Humphrey could potentially need surgery on his finger. The report gained traction on X and was posted by Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic. Zrebiec also added that Harbaugh said the timetable to return was one to two weeks if the surgery occurred.
Harbaugh said that Marlon Humphrey may need surgery on his finger. IF he gets the surgery, he’ll likely miss a week or two.

The injury was picked up in practice before the Week 10 game. Humphrey would end up playing in the game. Although he appeared to be healthy throughout the game, the injury clearly bothered him as he would not play the entire fourth quarter. The team isn’t rushing anything. They’re waiting to see how the swelling and movement respond to treatment before locking in a decision. Harbaugh said they expect clarity by midweek.
Humphrey’s been a big part of Baltimore’s secondary since 2017. He is a three-time Pro Bowler known for his physical play and sharp reads. This season, he has made 26 solo tackles and two turnovers. One of which was an interception in the recent win over the Vikings.
Who Can Replace Humphrey?
If he’s sidelined, T.J. Tampa and rookie Kenyon Martin likely get more snaps. Tampa is steady and seasoned, the kind of player who rarely blows assignments. Martin is Baltimore’s rookie out of Louisiana University. He has shown flashes that make one think he could be special, but asking him to step in now is no small task. Their performances could swing the next few games, especially with divisional matchups tightening the AFC playoff race.
Baltimore’s defense has been a wall most of this year. They rank in the top five in points allowed and total yards through ten weeks. They have kept the Ravens in games throughout the year. Although losing Humphrey could force coordinator Zach Orr to tweak coverage shells, maybe lean heavier on safety rotations or zone looks. That secondary depth could potentially get tested without him.
Still, this isn’t a long-term crisis. More of a waiting game. The Ravens have been resilient this year, even after losing Lamar Jackson for some time. It would be surprising if injury moved them off their game. Look for Humphrey’s status to get updated as the week goes on.
