On the field, McConkey’s sophomore NFL season has lived up to the growing hype. Through the first half of the 2025 campaign, he has emerged as a key target for Justin Herbert, recording over 600 receiving yards and four touchdowns in just eight games.

Coming off a rookie season where he set franchise records for receptions and yards, McConkey’s consistency and confidence continue to grow.

Ladd McConkey Endorsed Justin Herbert’s MVP Case

While McConkey’s performances have earned him plenty of praise, he’s been just as vocal in recognizing the brilliance of his quarterback. The young receiver recently shared his thoughts on Justin Herbert’s form this season, making it clear where he stands in the MVP discussion.

He called Herbert one of the league’s most complete quarterbacks, praising his leadership, toughness, and ability to elevate the entire offense. McConkey pointed out that Herbert’s consistency and command have been key to the Chargers’ success this year.

“It’s great. Justin’s a great dude,” McConkey said. “Being able to come in year two and us being able to just feed off each other on the field, knowing what he wants to expect and how he wants me to run this route, what spot he wants me out. Speed it out, slow it down, or whatever. I feel like we’re getting better by the week and keep it rolling.”

The duo’s chemistry has grown visibly stronger, with McConkey becoming one of Herbert’s most trusted targets in crucial situations. His comments were a reflection of the respect and admiration he holds for the signal-caller who’s helped him flourish as a pro.
