After missing much of the season so far due to injuries, Minnesota Vikings quarterback JJ McCarthy is finally taking to the field once again. He is slated to make his long-awaited return on Sunday against the Detroit Lions, which is fitting as he will be returning to the state of Michigan with the Lions holding home field. He even expressed his optimism about his return:
“Amazing. Ready to go. I feel like myself again.” he commented.

JJ McCarthy used to be the star quarterback for the Michigan Wolverines, and this is a homecoming of sorts for him, as well as this being his first game back since getting injured. His return announcement, however, did not sit well with fans who remembered that he may have been part of that Michigan sign stealing scandal. Others were less than impressed for other reasons.
“L coming for the cheater,” said one critic.
“I hope I’m wrong But this kid doesn’t look like he’s responsible to cover the morning shift at a Holiday Station.” pointed out one X user.
“So by feeling yourself again, you mean you’re ready to toss Zero TDs, 2 picks, and fumble 3 times again? 😏” said another person.
“Said it on Draft Day, he’ll Ultimately will be a Bust, well on his way since he can’t stay on the field. His Draft Stock was Tainted, as he knew what the Opposition D was doing due to scUM’s Onfield Cheating Scheme – Harbaugh’s! Sadly, I’m a Vikes Fan, not with him at QB. 🙄” another critic added.
“No o-line protection and he’ll be back on IR by halftime 😭” said another one.
“But the only problem he’s going to get injured again because the Vikings paid so much money to have a sh*t offensive line.” noted one person.
JJ McCarthy Return Comes Just In Time After Carson Wentz Went Down With Season-Ending Injury
JJ McCarthy’s return is very timely for the Vikings, especially after veteran QB Carson Wentz suffered a season-ending shoulder injury. While McCarthy was still out, Wentz had reportedly been playing hurt and this finally caught up to him ahead of Week 9.
Wentz will reportedly get shoulder surgery, effectively ending his season and handing the QB1 position back to McCarthy.
