Tampa Buccaneers fans and Fantasy managers are concerned about the availability of quarterback Baker Mayfield, who is currently dealing with an injury that may have him sidelined against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday. Will he be able to play?
The Bucs have been banged up a lot this season already, losing several key players and reserves as the 2025 season went on. Mayfield’s injury drew plenty of concern, especially with a lot of other Bucs players already being questionable, confirmed to be out against the Saints, or placed in the injured reserve.
Mayfield already has 1,767 passing yards on 245 attempts and 157 completions. He already has 13 touchdowns in his name, but has been intercepted twice already. Him missing in action on Sunday is seen as a big blow to the already injury-riddled Bucs.
Is Baker Mayfield Playing Week 8?
Mayfield is currently dealing with a knee injury, which the team is not that concerned about. He was allowed to practice in a limited capacity on Wednesday, but was soon upgraded to getting a full practice the very next day, which means that the team is very optimistic about their quarterback’s condition for now.
Will he play though? The answer is yes, as the team has confirmed that despite the injury, they will be allowing him to start their game against the Saints, His full practices have shown that he is fit enough to take to the field on Sunday.
The Buccaneers will be having a bye week for Week 9, which means that should Baker Mayfield not get hurt against the Saints, he could rest that injured knee up even longer.
Baker Mayfield Fantasy Outlook
Baker Mayfield is known to put up the numbers, and with him officially playing on Sunday and their opponents being the struggling New Orleans Saints, expect him to play well. Keeping him would also be a good idea, especially with the bye week coming up and he will be more rested.
Should You Start or Sit Baker Mayfield in Week 8?
With their Week 8 matchup being the New Orleans Saints, which still only has one victory this season, expect Mayfield to put up the numbers, which means yes, Fantasy managers should definitely start with him.
