Stefon Diggs Acquitted After Assault Charges by Chef Mila Adams

Jamila Adams was Stefon Diggs’ live-in chef. She accused the wide receiver of assaulting and strangling her during an argument at his Massachusetts home. The dispute was reportedly about pay and personal tensions. According to the prosecutor, Adams might was romantically involved with Diggs.

“[Diggs] was a sometimes lover, boss, landlord, athlete, celebrity, financially powerful, surrounded by people who were all on his payroll and who liked him. Her behavior does make sense,” Drew Virtue said.

In the trial, Adams testified in court and faced intense cross-examination, with the defense questioning her credibility and motives. The defense played a video in the tail-end of the trial where Adams was “goofing around,” dancing and enjoying herself just days after the alleged assault incident took place. The video suggested that Adams didn’t react or looked as someone who was assaulted or faced something of the kind.

Diggs’ attorney claimed that the prosecutor had nothing other than Adams’ word and testimony in which she cried, recalling the incident.

The Dedham District Court took 90 minutes before sharing its verdict. Diggs, who pleaded not guilty to felony strangulation and misdemeanor assault and battery, was acquitted by the jury.
