Deion Sanders Squashes Beef With Cleveland HC Kevin Stefanski After Reportedly Turning Down Dinner Request

Deion Sanders made headlines again this week, but this time for putting an end to the speculation surrounding his relationship with Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski. Sanders visited the Browns’ facility, and the video that circulated on the internet effectively put an end to the rumors.

During his visit, he was seen greeting Stefanski with a hug and spending time with his son, Shedeur Sanders, the rookie quarterback Cleveland has been developing under Stefanski’s system.

The interaction signaled, at least publicly, that whatever tension had been rumored between the two sides has now cooled off. This moment comes only a few weeks after talk of friction between Sanders and Stefanski took over social media.

The narrative began when a self-proclaimed analyst claimed that Stefanski had invited Coach Prime to dinner in an effort to build rapport, but that Sanders declined. The analyst insisted he had inside sources tied to the Browns organization, which allowed the rumor to spread quickly despite the absence of any confirmation from the team or from Sanders.

“From a very reliable Cleveland Browns player Kevin stefanski tried to contact deion Sanders for a dinner date after sunday’s game to try to ingratiate himself in with the Sanders clan and Dion flat out said no,” the man captioned his POST.

Fans connected the rumor to speculation that Sanders was unhappy with how Shedeur was being handled early in his NFL career, from uneven usage in certain game situations to the occasionally conservative way Stefanski deployed him.

Those scattered coaching decisions fueled the idea that Sanders was keeping his distance. But the recent visit, complete with a warm exchange between the two men, appears to shut that narrative down.

Whatever disagreements or perceptions may have existed, Sanders made it clear through his actions that there is no ongoing feud. His appearance at the facility also reinforced how invested he is in supporting Shedeur’s early development in Cleveland.

Deion Sanders Has Picked His Heisman Trophy Winner

Sanders also made headlines off the field this week by revealing who he believes should take home the Heisman Trophy. On Instagram, he reposted a screenshot originally shared by his son, Deion Sanders Jr., showing a FaceTime call with Vanderbilt quarterback Diego Pavia, tagged with support for Pavia’s Heisman candidacy.

It’s not hard to see why Sanders backed him. Pavia has put together a standout 2025 season, becoming one of the most dynamic players in college football. He’s thrown for 3,192 yards, completed over 71% of his passes, and added 27 passing touchdowns to his total, while keeping interceptions manageable at eight.

What sets him apart even more is his dual-threat ability. 826 rushing yards and nine rushing touchdowns give him more than 4,000 yards of total offense this season alone. Those numbers, paired with Vanderbilt’s resurgence under his leadership, have made Pavia one of the most compelling finalists in the Heisman conversation.
