NFL Insider Predicts Dolphins Could Draft a QB Early to Protect Against Tua Tagivailoa’s Health Risks

The NFL Draft is fast approaching, so analysts across all platforms are ready to fire off their takes on what NFL teams might do.

Mike Tannenbaum Believes Dolphins Have a Good Quarterback Situation

In a recent NFL Draft media call, Tannenbaum analyzed the quarterback situation down in Miami.

While he believes the team could look to draft a quarterback, he really likes the signing of Zach Wilson. “They signed Zach Wilson…He has a ton of ability,” he said.

The Dolphins drafting a quarterback early on would be pretty interesting, considering they are just a year removed from signing Tagovailoa to a four-year, $212.4 million contract. However, the signing of the veteran Wilson might be the smarter move, considering he has plenty of NFL experience and has now been on multiple teams.

But because the former national champion in Tagovailoa has played just one full season in his NFL career and has a brutal concussion history, the organization might be wise to address the future of the position.

As they sit at pick No. 13 overall in the first round, they could have their fair share of options at quarterback if they choose to move in that direction.

What Position Could the Dolphins Take?

Based on his mock draft for ESPN, which he made a few days ago, Tannenbaum has Miami taking Ohio State offensive tackle Josh Simmons at pick No. 13 in the first round.

This could be the move that the team needs to make to ensure the safety of whoever is taking snaps under center.

Of course, the Dolphins could decide to draft a quarterback like Jaxson Dart at their position. They would then have their long-term option under center in the building, ready to learn from a Pro Bowl-caliber quarterback in Tagovailoa.
