Rachel Nichols’ Reaction Sums Up Knicks Fans’ Unwelcoming Reception For Donald Trump

One of the storylines heading into Game 3 of the NBA Finals was the reception that U.S. President Donald Trump would be getting in Madison Square Garden. While former Knick Amar’e Stoudemire speculated that NYC fans would welcome Trump with an ovation, the exact opposite happened.

Fox Sports’ Rachel Nichols was on hand to hear how the MSG crowd would react to Trump. With a single tweet, she summed up the overwhelming live response.

“Louder than the boos for the Spurs, louder than any boos I’ve heard in this building in a while.”

One poignant moment came when Trump was shown on the jumbotron as the national anthem was performed. Seeing the President on the screen, several Knicks fans broke out in a chorus of boos.

If many spectators inside MSG were unhappy with the sight of Trump, they were downright crestfallen when the final buzzer sounded as the San Antonio Spurs defeated the Knicks 115-111 to notch their first victory in the series.

Victor Wembanyama had 32 points, eight rebounds, and six assists to lead the Spurs in this road win. After a costly error in the dying moments of Game 2, Wembanyama committed just one turnover Monday night.

Stephon Castle added 23 points, five boards, and five dimes to help San Antonio weather a late Knicks rally in the fourth quarter. On the New York side, Jalen Brunson topscored with 32 points on 44.0% shooting from the field.

President Trump Questions Stephen A. Smith’s Intelligence After Game 3 in New York City

Prior to Game 3, ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith stated that he’d blame President Trump if the Knicks were to lose Game 3. At a media session outside Air Force One, Trump fired back at Smith, a longtime critic of his.

“I think he’s a nice guy but you need a certain aptitude to run for president. You need a high IQ, I’m not sure Stephen A Smith has that.”

Trump’s jab adds insult to injury as Smith and the rest of the Knicks fanbase are left to rue what could have been if the team had defended homecourt that night.
