Which Teams Play in the Mountain West?
Despite much to do around college football realignment over the past few seasons, the Mountain West has stayed true to its core and hasn’t wavered. They haven’t not flirted with the idea of bringing on new teams, however, the true 12 teams in the Mountain West are the same as they have been.
In 2024, however, the conference announced that it would amend its schedule and add the now-defunct Pac-12 teams: Oregon State and Washington State. As such, the Mountain West core adjusted its schedules and added the Cougars and Beavers to its 2024 football schedules, beefing up the conference’s overall strength of schedule in the process.
