Based on recent trends, there is only one way to go with the total in this one: under.
- The under has cashed in 12 of Miami’s last 18 games and in each of its previous 11 December matchups.
- The under has hit in 12 of Colorado State’s past 18 contests.

But what about the spread? Well, the RedHawks went 1-3 ATS in their non-conference schedule this year. Meanwhile, the Rams ended the season on a heater, going 7-1-1 ATS in their last nine games.
However, take that with a grain of salt, as they haven’t covered the spread in five straight December bouts.
Miami (OH)’s Winning Probability
Chuck Martin has guided the RedHawks to four consecutive bowl games, but they enter this matchup reeling from a 38-3 drubbing at the hands of Ohio in the MAC title game. With longtime QB Brett Gabbert set for his final collegiate game, expect Miami to channel that frustration into a strong performance against the Rams.
- at Colorado State: 55.6%
Colorado State’s Winning Probability
Under head coach Jay Norvell, the Rams have shown steady improvement, climbing from 3-9 to 5-7 to 8-4—Colorado State’s best record since 2014. Their bowl appearance this year marks their first since 2017, and a win would give them their first bowl victory since 2013.
- vs. Miami (OH): 44.4%
Prediction for Miami (OH) vs. Colorado State
The RedHawks can only improve after their disastrous showing in the MAC title game, where Ohio’s defense completely overwhelmed them. Against Colorado State, Gabbert and 1,000-yard rusher Keyon Mozee should find more room to operate, especially against a Rams defense ranked 107th in EPA and 89th in success rate.
On the other side, Colorado State’s offense has struggled without star WR Tory Horton, managing just 25 points per game in his absence.

Miami will miss CB Raion Strader, who has entered the transfer portal, but their defense should still be able to contain deep-threat Caleb Goodie (20.4 yards per reception). Rams QB Brayden Nicolosi-Fowler has shown improvement, cutting his interceptions down from 16 last season to seven this year, but he’s thrown just 13 touchdowns all season.
The RedHawks’ defense, ranked 22nd in net points per drive and 27th in early down EPA, is far stingier than most units Colorado State has faced this season.
This one has the makings of a methodical, grind-it-out game, with Miami’s defense and rushing attack leading the way. Take the under in what should be a hard-fought win for the RedHawks.
Prediction: Miami 24, Colorado State 17
