The NIL initiative has taken off over the past few years. For the longest time, colleges and officials fought to keep college athletes down. They resisted compensating students for a long time, outside of a scholarship and an occasional stipend here and there.
While there is certainly still some pushback, the difference we see in colleges now is they’re not only for NIL but actively creating brands to enhance NIL offerings and much more. For example, LSU recently launched a brand to enhance NIL offerings and to create an “ultimate hub” for student-athletes.

LSU Launches ‘The Brand’ To Enhance NIL Offerings
Earlier today, LSU Athletics announced the launch of ‘The Brand.’ The Brand is a way for student-athletes to have an ultimate hub that encompasses all they need to know about NIL and NIL offerings.
Barrett Sallee announced on X (formerly Twitter) that LSU is indeed launching this new concept called ‘The Brand.’ He states that the reasoning behind this is that they hope to “unify multiple units of the department to create the ultimate hub for student-athlete and team brand elevation and innovation.”
Located on the newly-renovated third floor of the LSU Tiger Stadium South, the office allows for student-athletes and other athletic personnel to have access to LSU’s unrivaled brand-building resources. This encompasses everything from communications, social media, photo, design, videos, podcasts, all the way to NIL and marketing.
Each part of ‘The Brand’ will allow for current LSU student-athletes not only to innovate and elevate themselves, but dominate. This isn’t just for competition’s sake, but it is also about growing their own personal and team brands and taking them to unprecedented heights never seen before.
The place itself contains over 100 staff members in Tiger Stadium. This includes student workers, who are earning valuable hands-on experience for their next steps in life.
The space on the third floor includes suites of offices, a photo and video studio, recruit dressing rooms, an NIL recruiting lounge, LSU+ Studio, a podcast lounge, a LSU Radio Network Studio, and so much more.
“LSU is not just one of the premier brands in college athletics – it’s the brand when it comes to transcending sports and creating a transformative impact on our student-athletes,” said Zach Greenwell, LSU Senior Associate AD for External Affairs.

“In order to continue to attract elite talent in this new era of college athletics, it’s vital that we offer our student-athletes the greatest brand-building resources in the country so that they can maximize their NIL opportunities and leave here the best professionals possible. The Brand positions us to do just that.”
The walls are also decorated with graphics that were designed by ‘The Brand’s’ own award-winning design team. This really sets the tone of what LSU is hoping to accomplish, and hopefully this is the start of something great.
