Tulane WR Lawrence Keys III Exits Game, Green Wave Down Multiple Receivers

Tulane WR Lawrence Keys III left the game against Tulsa, hampering Tulane's receiving corps. Keys leads the team in each receiving category.

The Tulane Green Wave have suffered their fair share of injuries this season. Repeating their New Year’s Six bowl game appearance was never going to be easy, but certainly not with the losses of multiple top players this year, including their quarterback, Michael Pratt.

On Saturday, leading receiver Lawrence Keys III hobbled to the sidelines early against Tulsa. Later, Keys was seen putting a walking boot on his ankle.

Lawrence Keys III Injury Update: Tulane WR Exits Game

The injury wasn’t immediately known, nor was how it happened clear for Keys. He was seen hobbling to the sidelines in the first quarter against Tulsa and didn’t return to the game.

“Keys came hobbling off to the sidelines and trainers are now putting a boot on his right foot,” ESPN’s Taylor McGregor said on the broadcast. “Also to note, Tulane receiver Jha’Quan Jackson, another leading receiver on this team, is also out.”

“Suddenly, two of their three top receivers are not playing this game.”

Keys had hauled in 32 receptions for 593 yards and a team-high seven touchdowns. Jackson is third on the team with 421 receiving yards but second on the team with four receiving touchdowns.

Without the service of Keys and Jackson, the Green Wave will turn to their depth chart for answers. Chris Brazzell II, Yulkeith Brown, and Dontae Fleming should see an increase in targets. Brazzell is second on the team with 433 yards has averaged 16.7 yards per reception in 2023.

Pratt, who has NFL aspirations, has been known to find his tight ends easily enough and Alex Bauman had begun to be featured more following the absence of Keys and Jackson against Tulsa.

College Football Network will monitor this situation and be sure to update if there are any further updates on Keys or Jackson’s statuses as the weekend goes along.
