Georgia is coming off a season in which it won the SEC and made the College Football Playoff before falling in the Quarterfinal to Notre Dame. Opinions surrounding Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs have been polarizing, with fans wondering if the team will be able to contend again this season.
The Bulldogs lost 13 players to the NFL and 17 to the transfer portal. Smart, expectedly, made a lot of new additions to the squad ahead of the new season, and Georgia is still expected to be among the contenders for the big prize.

Despite Key Transfer Additions, Georgia’s SEC Ranking And Physicality Concerns Raise Tough Questions
One of the concerns being raised about the Georgia Bulldogs is whether they have enough physicality to battle all the way. Podcasters and analysts, SEC Mike and Cousin Shane, ranked the SEC teams that had the best offseason ahead of the new season and discussed why there are doubts about Georgia’s chances.
“My biggest question, and we’ll never answer it, you know, in the off-season and lists like this, is if we can get back to physicality and toughness that is like the DNA of Georgia”, SEC Mike said.
“We saw it against Texas, you know, whipped them on the line of scrimmage, we saw it against Tennessee, whipped them on the line of scrimmage but they got whipped against Ole Miss,” they continued.
“Kirby’s lost a couple games (not many) but I’ve never seen him get his a** whooped like they did at Ole Miss… We got a couple teams like Alabama and Texas that could do that to us this year.”
The Bulldogs are starting next season with a new quarterback after Carson Beck transferred to Miami. Beck suffered an elbow injury in the SEC title game against Texas. Gunner Stockton helped lead Georgia to a win over the Longhorns in overtime and played well against Notre Dame in the playoffs despite the loss.
Stockton looks primed to lead the Bulldogs next season. Georgia also made some key additions in the portal by bringing in Zachariah Branch, Noah Thomas, and a number of safeties.

They also recently added running back Josh McCray, defensive lineman Josh Horton from Miami, and EDGE Elo Modozie from Army during the spring transfer portal window.
Smart and the “Dawgs” will kick off their campaign against Marshall on August 30. They’ll also take on national powerhouses like Tennessee, Alabama, Ole Miss, Florida, and Texas.
