The 2025 college football season will debut several new talented quarterbacks on national championship-contending teams.
As teams continue their offseason preparations, analyst Josh Pate shared his perspective on the top QBs to look out for. And according to him, this former four-star prospect has the talent to become a force to be reckoned with.

Josh Pate Puts His Faith in Former 4-Star QB Demond Williams Jr.
On Friday’s episode of his eponymous show on YouTube, Pate began by talking about the high expectations from Texas Longhorns QB Arch Manning. He also discussed Dante Moore as a QB to look out for during the 2025 season, giving top competition to Manning.
He then gave a special shoutout to Washington Huskies QB Demond Williams Jr., who Pate believes will be a breakout star.
“I think he will break out this year,” Pate said. “He’s a little bit smaller of a body about 5’11-190 (pounds) or so. He’s a former four-star, he played a good amount for Washington last year….Legit dual-threat, really good athlete. I think he’ll pop on the scene nationally this year.”
Coming out of Basha High School, Williams Jr. had initially committed to the Arizona Wildcats, but after head coach Jedd Fisch joined the Huskies, the QB entered the transfer portal to follow him.
Williams Jr. saw limited playing time on the field as the backup to Will Rogers. He recorded a total of 944 yards and eight passing touchdowns while rushing for 282 yards and two touchdowns. He started for the Huskies during their 35-34 loss to Louisville in the Sun Bowl, and despite the loss, he had 374 yards and four passing touchdowns while rushing for one touchdown, showcasing his dual-threat ability.
Jedd Fisch Heaps Praise on Demond Williams Jr.
Fisch has always been vocal when it comes to praising the young QB.
On the “Rich Eisen Show” last month, the Huskies head coach stated that Williams Jr. is a very talented QB who will be elite in their offense. Fisch also stated that he looks forward to his time with him over the next few years.
“We have a freshman quarterback who started the last two games for us, and I think he’s elite,” Fisch said. “I think he’s going to be super special. He had five touchdowns in our bowl game and I think this kid, Demond Williams, is going to be someone to keep an eye on.”
