It will be a tough bout for Marcus Freeman and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish at the College Football Playoff National Championship Game against the Ohio State Buckeyes in Atlanta, Georgia. The program is looking to write history against a team that has a history legacy of taking down opponents in clutch moments.
Coach Ryan Day is an ace in devising groundbreaking strategies during games like these, where stakes are extremely high. However, Freeman could get some loopholes to exploit that will make or break the Buckeyes’ championship hopes, as per Joel Klatt.
Fox Insider Reveals Only Avenue for Marcus Freeman To Take Down Ryan Day
Ohio State’s defense has been phenomenal. It’s almost impossible to break, especially with players like Jack Sawyer at the helm.
Day could inflict serious damage to Notre Dame’s offense. Moreover, the Fighting Irish haven’t been the most dynamic offensively during their College Football Playoff run.

However, Joel Klatt believes Ohio State’s aggressive plays could harm its own players. Similarly, the Notre Dame defense should be able to stop Ryan Day’s offensive strategies.
“The only avenue for Notre Dame to win is if they can take Ryan Day, and they can take these Buckeyes, and they can somehow bait them into the type of game that they played against Nebraska and Michigan and, in some ways, Texas, that’s the blueprint for Notre Dame,” Klatt said on his weekly show ahead of the championship game.
“If they get an offense, if they get a Buckeyes team that is pedal to the metal ball out of the quarterback’s hands, quickly scoring multiple times in the first half, they will lose,” Klatt continued. “This has to be a low-scoring game for the Irish. They will not score more than 20 points, maybe even more than 17 points on this defense.”
“This is the best defense in college football. Since the Oregon loss in the middle of the season, they have been phenomenal. They’ve got too much veteran talent and quality players that it’s even going to be tough for Riley Leonard to run around,” he added.
Heading into the game, Ohio State is an 8.5-point favorite against Notre Dame. The season has been quite phenomenal for the Irish, but they will look to take advantage of every possible opportunity against the Buckeyes.
