Fox Sports analyst Joel Klatt has revealed that Drew Allar is one of his top 5 quarterbacks going into the 2025 season. Klatt hyped up Allar and explained why he believed he could be the biggest surprise in college football next season.

Joel Klatt Believes Drew Allar Has the Tools To Lead Penn State to a National Title
Klatt revealed his top 5 quarterbacks ahead of the new season, and although he had Allar at No. 5, the analyst only had glowing things to say about the 21-year-old. Klatt explained why he rates Allar so highly, but also stated that there is one key challenge that the quarterback has yet to overcome.
“I tried to pace myself on this one because I’m very high on this team,” Klatt said. “I think this team is going to be an excellent team. They’re following the blueprint of a team that can go and actually win a national championship.
“I wanted to pace myself on this one because he’s got to take the next step in his development, in his leadership, and in what his team has accomplished. Drew Allar at Penn State. I’ve loved Drew Allar since the first time I saw him when he was a true freshman warming up in a game that he wasn’t even going to play in.”
Klatt also revealed that he believed Allar played well last season and didn’t deserve some of the criticism he received. However, he believes there are some things that the 21-year-old has to improve in his game.
“I felt like Drew Allar played extremely well last year. But there are things that he can get better at, no doubt. He was playing with a wide receiver corps that was below average. I think Drew Allar has gotten a bad rap from a lot of people, including Penn State fans. Allar is actually very good.
“He’s got incredible skill level and he has shown the ability and willingness to run.”
