For the second time this season, BYU Cougars CB Jakob Robinson has hauled in a lauded national honor. Robinson dominated in coverage against Texas Tech and helped secure a much-needed conference victory for the Cougars.
Robinson hauled in some hardware following the performance.
Jakob Robinson Jim Thorpe Award Named National DB of the Week
Robinson picked off a pass, added a pass breakup, and secured 10 total tackles in the victory over the Red Raiders. In doing so, Robinson was given the Paycom Jim Thorpe Award National Defensive Back of the Week honors.
This marks the second time this season that Robinson has hauled in such an honor after he was named National DB of the Week following Week 5’s performance against Cincinnati.
Robinson now has four interceptions on the season amid a career year with the Cougars.

What is the Paycom Jim Thorpe Award?
Given to the nation’s top defensive back, the Paycom Jim Thorpe Award is one of the most prestigious awards across all of college football. It’s awarded based upon performance on the field, athletic ability, and character.
Named after one of history’s greatest all-around athletes — Jim Thorpe — the award is also handing out 12 national players of the week following the previous week’s action.
